It’s a new year and that means I have a new reading goal! For 2019, I’ve upped the number of books I want to read to 70. Like all avid readers, there are some books I’m more excited about this year than others, and that list is sure to grow as more releases are announced. Here a few that I am MOST excited about in 2019.
Angie Thomas follows up her smash The Hate U Give with this young adult novel about Bri, a sixteen-year-old aspiring to be one of the greatest rappers of all time. Until he died, her dad was a big star in the hip hop world, so she’s got connections, but family hardships and negative media attention threaten to bring her down.
Releases February 5.
From the writers that brought us The Wife Between Us, comes another thriller about a young woman who signs up for a psychological study to make some extra cash. But as the questions begin to get more prying and manipulative, it becomes apparent this is not your ordinary study session.
Out now.
Tomi Adeyemi picks up where Children of Blood and Bone left off in this highly anticipated sequel. Not much is known about the plot – heck the cover hasn’t even been revealed yet! But it’s sure to be a big hit like its predecessor was.
Releasing in March.
Sarah J. Maas delves into adult fiction with her new fantasy series Crescent City. Last year, she revealed to Entertainment Weekly that the series will be “set in a universe where humans struggle with survival and hierarchies of the magical creatures they live among. Crescent City will follow half-human, half-Sidhe Bryce Quinlan as she seeks to avenge the death of her best friend, who was brutally murdered.” And that’s about all we know, but she’s been such a prolific author these past couple years that readers (including me) will devour anything she writes.
Releasing late 2019.
The Caraval series wraps up with this final book, aptly named Finale. Legend is about to be crowned, Tella thinks her mother is still alive and Scarlett is starting a game of her own with her ex-fiance Julian. How will everything end?
Releases May 7.
