Gifts for the Hanson Fan in Your Life

Gifts for the Hanson Fan in Your Life

UPDATED for 2019!
This is probably the most unconventional gift guide you’ll ever read but there are so many Hanson fans in my life that I thought it would be fun to put together a post of unique things we might like for Christmas.

Snowed In on Vinyl
Amazon is selling a limited edition pressing of Snowed In on vinyl. While this is not an official piece of merchandise sold by the band themselves, it is still very cool. The U.S. version is green and if you live in the U.K., your pressing is white.

Hanson/Friends themed Mug

I’m really not a big Friends fan, but this mug is TOO CUTE. Features “Hanson” in the Friends font/logo on the front and then an “episode” titled “The One Where a Band Took Over My Life.”

Hanging Wooden Sign
I want this and may buy it for myself and kind of hate to share it in case it sells out!

Hanson Pins
Add some flair to your bag or show the world who your favorite Hanson brother is with these handcrafted enamel pins. Pins not your thing? She also has patches and plenty of resistance approved designs as well if that’s your thing.

Tulsa Snow Globe
Made famous by 1997’s Tulsa, Tokyo and the Middle of Nowhere, the Tulsa Snow Globe is a coveted item for fans all over the world. Formerly sold at Saks, Ida Red now has them and ship, so what are you waiting for?

Lyric Charm Bracelets
These can be customized and are handmade by another fan. I bought one a few years ago and love wearing mine stacked with other bracelets and I put my Hanson necklace pendant charm on it for an added personal touch.

Gifts for the Cat Lover in Your Life

Gifts for the Cat Lover in Your Life

Christmas is right around the corner! Have you started shopping yet? I’m nearly done before Thanksgiving, which is normal for me because I am not a wait until the last minute person in any aspect of my life, haha.

Instead of the typical gift buying guide, I thought I would create one for the cat lover in your life! I’m a cat lady myself and there’s SO MANY cute cat things out there right now. Take a look at some of my favorites below!

Kate Spade
Kate Spade is really doing it right when it comes to their cat themed products. They have everything from purses, umbrellas, water bottles to cell phone cases. Some items are very affordable, which is always a plus. For the more expensive items, I recommend shopping eBay or Poshmark – sometimes you can find something new at a much cheaper price than if you bought directly from the retailer.

Clothing
If there’s a cat lady in your life, chances are she’ll go nuts over anything with cat print on it. I tend to prefer cute over weird but there’s something for everyone out there. Target is always a good place to check too – they usually have some cute cat print socks!

Mod Cloth
There’s no shortage of cat related items on Mod Cloth! They have everything from cat print leggings, funny t-shirts, books, shoes, kitchen stuff – you name it, they probably have it.

Miscellaneous Items
Maybe your cat lover doesn’t want or need clothing items? There are still simple little gifts that serve a more practical purpose but will still look cute while being functional.

Gifts for Cat Dads
The cat themed gifts are definitely very female oriented but never fear – there ARE some cool cat themed items out there for all the cat dads out there. Etsy is probably your best bet and you’ll be supporting small businesses if you shop there too.

Pinterest Challenge!

Pinterest Challenge!

I often get outfit ideas from Pinterest because sometimes you can stare at your closet and nothing really jumps out at you to wear. I have a fall/winter and spring/summer fashion board and these are my go to when I need a quick outfit inspiration.

Fall has definitely arrived here in Indiana, so I thought it might be fun to show you some looks inspired by photos I found on Pinterest then created from items I already have in my closet.

My striped sweater cardigan is from a local boutique but I got it last winter. I’ve linked a similar one at an affordable price point here. Jeans are from American Eagle, black tee is from Target and gray booties are Lucky Brand from DSW. My purse is Kate Spade, which I found on Poshmark, so either hunt for a similar one there, or check out this one I’ve linked for you.

This look was fairly easy to recreate! Again, my olive v-neck is from Target, leggings are the Perfect Fit leggings from Grace & Lace, boots are Steve Madden Troopa that I bought on eBay. Cardigan is a few years old from Dottie Couture, but I highly recommend the Bare Foot Dreams cardigan that you can get at Nordstrom!

This look is perfect for rainy days and I love this waffle knit cardigan from Nordstrom. I believe it’s sold out with the exception of plus sizes, but I’ve linked a couple others that are similar. Instead of a denim chambray shirt, I paired it with a dress and wore flats to complete the look.

Finally, a classic look for work or even dinner! We aren’t allowed to wear ripped jeans to work, so I paired it with solid black denim from Express, an off white v-neck from Grace and Lace and an olive chambray shirt from Magnolia Boutique. Everything is older, but this is an easy outfit to recreate!

My First Time at DryBar

My sister was in town visiting from Wyoming and on a whim, I asked her if she’d want to check out the new Drybar in town before the Miranda Lambert concert we were planning to go to last Saturday night. Both of us thought a little pampering sounded fun and relaxing, so I booked an appointment online and was super excited to try them out.

If you’ve never head of Drybar before, it’s a salon that specializes in blowouts – no cuts or color, just style. They’ve been around for a while in bigger markets but are starting to expand to medium size cities and just opened their Indianapolis location near the Fashion Mall, so it’s in a great location for a girls weekend.

The salon itself is very clean looking with lots of lighting and mirrors so you’re able to see exactly what’s going on. When we first got there, we met our stylists, then went over our hair type, the products they use and selected a style. I chose the Mai Tai, which is beachy waves. Since we were going to a concert and it was very hot and humid, I picked a style that I thought would hold up well in those conditions.

Then it was time for a wash! That was really relaxing, especially since you get a mini head massage while your hair is being washed and conditioned.

It was back to the chair after that for their unique drying/styling process. Drybar stylists actually curl your hair while they are drying, using a round brush and some wrist techniques that I’d love to learn at home. It was really fun to watch and your hair looks so pretty even before they get to the styling portion of your appointment.

My stylist used large rollers to set the blow dry style before using a flat iron to give me the beachy waves. Then as an extra bit of flare, I got a dutch braid on the side where my bangs are growing out.

Both our styles turned out so cute and I can’t wait to go back some other time! Thank you to Drybar for making our girls weekend that much more fun 🙂
